Today I set out to do my normal stuffs. My average morning routine finished I then arrive at my studio to work. Yes, my studio…and yes it’s in the living room. So I’ve been listening to one of my favorite composers Steve Reich lately. It really just makes me miss percussion ensemble concerts. So…then I wrote a Mallet quartet. I haven’t written for percussion ensemble since Coruscate, but this felt really good. It was amazing watching this all just flow out and things falling in to place. I’ve been wanting to write for percussion lately, I’d like to get some percussion works performed here in town before I graduate. That’d be great. So This work is coming out and I’m going to try and finish it before classes start up, I’d like to get it to some groups to take a look at it.

But yes, that’s all down the river. I should finish writing the piece before I get too far ahead.

I made lasagna for dinner, hopefully it turns out well…we didn’t exactly have enough of the ingredients required.

So I started this post yesterday and I’m finishing it this morning. I’ve been waking up early every day and let me tell you, I’ve been getting so much more done everyday.

I came up with an ending to the mallet quartet, it’s predictable. I need to draft a better ending. The first half is stronger than the end, so that needs to be fixed. Other than that I am quite pleased with how it’s turning out. Now I have to figure out some percussion notation stuff with Finale 2012. I need to show the drum parts on the mallet staves, that’s always a hassle. Hopefully 2012 will help me on this. I also need a title…
