Take Off

The thesis has developed into something I bigger than I had earlier imagined. I like that actually. Working with these large sheets of paper is exciting. The new sounds and developing ideas are fantastic. I always find that the newest material is my favorite.

I’m finding the biggest issue in naming the piece. I know that can wait…but I would love to have an idea…something ringing in my ear as to what this piece is really about.

I am hoping to have some MIDI clips to put up here soon. The piece is on it’s way to being ready for that. But for now just enjoy these photos.

Well I will start my Blogging about my research project tonight. So get stoked for some research!

Hearing the birds

Today I woke up…on time…and I heard the birds. I don’t usually hear the birds. Perhaps spring is coming. Although I guess I missed winter…we hardly had any snow this year. Quite a change from last year.

So what do you think of the new site? I think it’s functioning quite well. I’m adding in music to the works list, that should simplify things. I need to update some numbers, but it looks like it’s working.

So it’s been nonstop work on the wind ensemble piece. It’s finally starting to be something good. Man, this has been an awkward process. Things are looking good though. I will really be excited when this whole thing is done. I knew this was going to be a large project taking up most of my time…but I think I have better plans now for the next large ensemble piece I write. Where will I go from here?

There are a few commissions that need to be finished, but I want to write a solo for Marimba. It’s something I’ve wanted to do but I haven’t done in a long time.

February Air

So as you might have noticed…I changed the website…again.

I decided to go ahead and make the site I wanted. I’ve had the time this week. So I did it. You like it? I do. I’m pretty sure this will stay it for a while. Hazzah! Now I just need better photos.

I love it. I loved that movie. I know I’ve talked about it a bit, but I did. Anyways…

I’ve been working on the Thesis pretty hardcore and I’m quite pleased with where it’s going. I’m really trying to work in the details you know? I also booked some recording sessions for some of my music. We’ll see how all that goes soon. I’ve got lots of editing to do on some works. I’m also planning a workshop of the Mallet Quartet in the late spring.

Since the site is done I really need some more recordings. I’m going to be putting some music for sale soon as well. So keep that in the lookout. I think that’s about it for now.

So the Pats lost…oh well…Great game though.

So last night was Comp du Jour. Thanks to everyone who came out and supported us! It was an amazing concert. Many thanks to Ara, Annalise, Catt and Olivia for doing such a wonderful job performing Breath. Please take a moment to listen to the premier!

It was an honor to take part in the concert and I’m so pleased with how it all went. Twas a great weekend. Goodnight.

So it’s all finished. The score and parts have been sent off. Everything is good to go for tonight. We have rehearsals starting at 4:00pm that should be fun and exciting. I’m really looking forward to hearing this piece live!

It’s an interesting thing to complete all of this in a day. It really shows you what is possible. So good luck to all of my colleagues out there! And here’s to a fun day of music.

Come out to our Comp du Jour concert tonight at 8:00pm in Berkman Hall. It’s going to be fantastic. There are a lot of great composers on this.
